Name on the wall

Hello my dear bloggy friends,
Thank you for being with me today. I am in the middle of cleaning my house, but during my break I want to share a fun little craft idea with you. I have here some little canvas paintings of my boys names. I made these about 4 years ago. They are kind of cheesy, but fun to do and the possibilities are endless.
These are simple to make and they are pretty cheap. I think I bought both canvases for about 8 bucks total. I am not really good at cursive so I actually printed this off my computer and used graphite paper to transfer the writing to my picture. This was all done using acrylic paint.

Bugs,flowers and sunshine!

On days like this, in Sunny California I have a hard time staying in doors. The weather these past few days has been so delightful that I feel myself salivating.  I can wear my flip flops and my Bermuda shorts. It is great! I hope it lasts for awhile. So instead of sewing I have been outside in the yard mainly. I wanted to share with you some pictures of our poppies.

Now the great thing about poppies are that they are a wild flower so even the blackest of thumbs like mine can grow them.
I love African Daisies too and those are supposed to be impossible to kill, but it is not true. I managed to kill them twice. I think I was supposed to water them or something ridiculous like that.
On a side note the bugs are going nuts around here, especially the pincher bugs and the ants!RRRRRRRR!
Squished Hahaha!

Rainbow Boas For Easter

Some kids get bunnies and little chicks for Easter,my kids get snakes! I got this pattern from the book " Sew Darn Cute".

I really like this book.  You can see the dish towels I made from this book here Busy bee towels
I love craft books, I really wanted to buy about 5 of them today at Joann's,but I decided not to get any. I need to work on the other patterns and projects I have already. Plus thrift stores are the best places to get books so I will wait until I get to go to one.
These guys are pretty big. They are about 54" long.
Aren't they cute I just love them!
If you would like to see more projects from this book follow me for updates.

What to do with old pants #4 Bunny

Today I am sharing my corduroy bunny with you. I found this pattern at The polka dot umbrella.Once I saw hers I knew I had to try to make one of my own! She has an awesome website by the way!I made my bunny out of my old tan Corduroy pants. She did not say to use corduroy,I just wanted to. This was overall a fun project. There were times of frustration. My work is by all means amateur, but I did it and my confidence is slowly building. That is all that matters. I have added some little tidbits here that might help this project go smoother for you.
Tip# 1 Corduroy is not the easiest material to work with, I would go with a softer fabric like fleece or flannel.

#2 I added what your cut pieces might look like. I thought it might make it easier to understand in case you have a hard time with written instruction's like I do. Also the round circles for the feet seemed a bit small,if I did this again I think I would cut them a little bigger.

#3 Steam a seam is fabulous! I can not tell you how much I love this stuff! I totally recommend it for the fabric that you have to applique like the face and paws etc.

#4 Don't forget to sew your applique on before you add the button eyes. I wasn't thinking and I tried to go around them.....it didn't work out so well. If you look at the pictures at the top you will see that I have added a flower here to cover this up using steam a seam.

#5 Don't flip out if your newly formed bunny ends up with love boogers. This is a sign of appreciation.

Thank you polka dot umbrella for provding this free pattern and for taking your time to make it.
Thank you to anyone who is taking the time to read this.
Have a great day!

What to do with old pants/Day 3

Those of you who follow my blog know that this week I am posting project ideas using old pants.
Today the project I would like to share with you is a diaper and wipes holder for the back seat of my car. I have never done this before so it is kind of funny looking, but I needed something fast! I made the pockets with the same pink pants I had for my little  Pink purses.

I was trying to make a tutorial for this, but that didn't work out so well.
Here is what I did though, in case you want to make one.
#1 Measure the back of your seat and then add 1-1 1/2" on all for sides. Cut out two pieces of cotton and one piece batting this size.

#2 Measure the diapers and wipes. Then cut two pieces of thick fabric for your pockets. Remember to add the extra measurements for the seams.

#3 If you are going to add an embellishment to your pockets, now is the time. I used felt and buttons.( If you would like to learn how to do this let me know)

#4 Iron all four sides of your pockets in toward the wrong side of your fabric.   I actually ironed on some fusible interfacing to insides of my pockets, but you don't have to.Sew on velcro.

#5 Place batting down on table, now add one of your cotton pieces on top with the right side facing up. Now add your second cotton piece on top of that, but have the right side facing down. Sew all around the edges, but leave an opening, so that you can turn it inside out.
#6 Turn your cotton pieces inside out,  and then stitch up the opening.

#7 Quilt the cotton pieces by sewing straight lines across the whole thing.

I used scotch tape as my guide.

#8 Now add you pockets, first sew on where you want your velcro and the pin and sew on your pockets.

#9 For the straps, Measure around your seat top and bottom.(I used bias tape. I sewed it closed and then added the curtain rings to the ends.

Please, you have any questions, feel free to ask!

If you enjoyed this, follow me for some more ideas like this coming soon!

What to do with old pants. Corduroy purse.

Today I am going to share with you some little purses I made a couple of weeks ago for my little nieces.
I made them out of my old pink corduroy pants. I think they turned out really cute. Have a look.

I made three of them with their initials on them. Below is my little niece Annie and the back of her purse. Isn't she adorable?
This next one is of my niece Sofia. She is so cute. I just love them!
Here are all the girls with Grandpa. My little Marion is in the middle.

These little purses are very fun and simple to make. If you would like to learn how to make one click Here. I  also made one out of some old jeans, if you would like to see it click here.

What to do with old pants/ Rag quilt

Hello my dear friends,
Sorry I have not posted this week ,we were at Disneyland! Oh I had so much fun! Now all I can think about is that song that says " Back to life, back to reality" Reality has definitely sunken in. My four year old vomited at church yesterday and my 1 year old did this morning at 2am :) Fun stuff! Any sane person would think I am nuts sitting here and blogging when I have so much to do. But being that I am insane most of the time it is alright and I need an outlet ;)  So lets have some fun,no more blah blahing for now.
I thought I would dedicate this week to projects I have done or want to do using old pants. Today I am going to show you my first ever denim project.  A denim rag quilt. These are not super complicated to make, but they are really time consuming.

This is what we call our "family blanket"
I can not tell you how many pairs of pants I used, but it was a butt load. Get it,pants, butts..never mind. That was kind of crude sorry.
I love this fabric I got at LDSFabric.com,they also have bible and scout prints too that are sooo cute.
My family really enjoys this blanket because it is very durable and colorful.
This next blanket is a baby blanket that I did using the left over jean squares. ( Yes I cut out way too many the first time.)

The bottom of the blanket is the blue and black.
I got this fabric at Joanns when all the clearance fabric was 50% off. You just can't beat that right?
Well hey, thanks for stopping by. If you have any denim ideas you would like to share, pass em along I would love to see!
Have a fabulous day!

Houston we have a problem

My husband will be home in about 30 minutes so I am blogging now. That way when he comes home I can give him my complete attention. I do get a little distracted when I come on here you know. I just have a little too much fun.;)  So what is my problem? Well  let me tell ya. I had just finished painting one of my butterflies, but I still hadn't applied the glitter spray. That's when everything went wrong. I never primed my wood before painting over it! Idiot! When I applied the spray all these ugly brown spots started to form. Have a look
                                                                           Before
                                                    After
I tried painting over the spots, but with no success. So instead I added jewels hoping it would distract the eye.
The worse part about this is that I had made this for a friend. I still sent it,but I added a little something else in with the butterfly.  This little girls purse.
So the moral of this story is "Always prime wood that has previously been stained!
Thank you for stopping by. Remember I love my followers!

Seldom Silver

Seldom silver is what I am naming this post because I hardly ever polish my silver.Oh wait, what was that? I never polish my silver because it is a pain in the toosh! I did once, yes, that was about 6 years ago. I could have gone another couple years with out it, but then I saw this post done by "Forever Decorating" . She said it was easy to clean your silver without polishing. The best part was that I didn't have to buy anything. I had all the stuff!
Woo woo! I think I jumped up and started the process within 2 minutes. Everyone was surprised to see me get all excited about cleaning because the rest of the house was a disaster. But this was fun stuff, doing everyday chores could wait. Here have a look ,do you see a difference?

You know that my friend was over the other day and she didn't even know this was silver before? How embarrassing.  Alright already how do you do this ?
You will need the following items found below.
Don't forget the old rags!
I lined my sink with Aluminum foil and then filled it with hot water. I then added about 5 tblsp of the baking
soda detergent .

I find it best to rotate your pieces every so often . After about 5 or 6 minutes per side. Then I got out my scrub pad and washed that gunk away! For more information remember to visit Forever Decorating . I don't like to use people's ideas and not give them credit. Thank you Forever Decorating!
Oh on a random thought, if this was boring to you then maybe the waffles and ice dream with apple syrup doesn't sound as bad. We had this for dinner tonight yummy! You can get the Apple syrup recipe here,Hot apple syrup
Thanks for stopping by!
